Lendable Nooks

Now Available at Syosset Public Library

Pre-loaded Lendable NOOKs!

Lendable NooksThinking of purchasing an eReader, but not sure you’ll like it?
Check out a Pre-loaded Lendable NOOK!

The Readers' Services Department has multiple Pre-loaded eReading devices for public lending. Test drive the NOOK in your own home and see what you've been missing! We've added some of the latest and most popular titles. Check one out today!

Need a Reason to try an eReader:

  • Great for taking on vacation! Bring multiple books on one device instead of lugging a suitcase full of paperbacks.
  • Having trouble holding onto larger books, like The Goldfinch at 771 pages? The lighter-weight NOOK eReader makes a great substitute.
  • Prefer Large Type materials and our copy is checked out or a title has not been made available in Large Type? The NOOK allows patrons to control the size of the print making the text larger or smaller to meet individual needs.
  • Not sure what kind of book you’re in the mood for? Our NOOKs are pre-loaded with over 100 different titles, including some of the most popular book discussion titles.

Who can check out a Lendable NOOK?
NOOKs can be checked out by Syosset Library card holders in good standing. Must be 18 years or older. Card holders will be asked to sign the Syosset Public Library eReader Loan Agreement Form. Pre-Loaded Lendable NOOKs are for Syosset Residents only.

How long can I keep the device?
A NOOK can be checked out for 14 days. It can be renewed one time provided another NOOK is currently available. A late fee of $3.00 per day will be applied to those devices kept beyond the due date.

Can I reserve a NOOK ahead of time?
Our Lendable devices cannot be reserved. They are provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Can I use the NOOK to download Overdrive titles or purchase other titles?
The NOOK devices we provide are pre-loaded with many diverse and appealing titles. They cannot be used to download from Overdrive, nor to purchase other titles.

Are new titles added?
New titles are added periodically depending on popularity and demand. Our Monthly Book Club titles are also added. These additional titles will be listed as they are made available.
